The Louisiana Army National Guard has been in cooperation with local efforts across the state to bring relief to those affected by Hurricane Isaac. A recent detail of Guardsmen were in Hammond supplying assistance and returning home to Shreveport when tragedy stuck, wounding one and killing another. The military Humvee was traveling at the rear of a northbound convoy when an 18 wheeler approached from behind and struck the Humvee. Officials are not sure if driver fatigue played a role in this accident at the time of this report.

Louisiana truck accident claims the life of elderly woman

A recent accident has Louisiana State Police investigating the cause of a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 64-yeaar-old Pioneer woman. Reports state that the woman's vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler as she turned into a private drive. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital following the fatal truck accident.

Alcohol suspected in fatal accident that killed Louisiana student

A man is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol when his car struck and killed a pedestrian in the early morning hours. Louisiana police say the fatal accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. when the man's vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was attempting to cross the street. The pedestrian was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Louisiana man pleads not guilty in fatal car accident

A man who allegedly caused a fatal car accident has pleaded not guilty to charges of vehicular homicide. The charges stem from a fatal Louisiana car accident on May 30 that left seven people dead. According to police, the man was driving his pickup truck the wrong way on Louisiana Highway 67 when he caused the head-on collision.

Fatal accident may have been caused by driver impairment

A head-on crash on June 23 left one woman dead and another in critical condition. The fatal accident happened in Louisiana on US Highway 167. According to reports, a driver from Port Barre was driving his car north in the southbound lanes of traffic at about 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The driver hit into another car that was driving south.

Injury, death after two major Louisiana highway trucking accidents

Truck accidents are all too common on Louisiana highways. On June 6, there were two trucking accidents that occurred near Lake Charles. The first accident was between a relatively small car and an 18-wheeler. Both vehicles had changed lanes due to traffic congestion on Interstate 10. The accident caused the 2004 Ford Focus to become wedged under the trailer of the 18-wheeler.
