Single car accident kills driver and injures passengers

Louisiana law enforcement officials work diligently to determine the cause of the accidents they investigate. In some car accident cases, it is not easy to determine what caused a driver to lose control of his or her vehicle. However, many Louisiana readers would agree that driving at excessive speeds lends itself to losing control.

For example, police were called to the scene of a crash involving one vehicle at around 6:45 p.m. on a recent Tuesday evening. Initial reports indicated that the vehicle was traveling well above the speed limit when the driver lost control. Photos of the scene show that the car ended up coming to rest on its roof.

When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered that the driver died from the injuries he suffered in the crash. They also found two other people had occupied the vehicle. A 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man both suffered injuries that were only described as not life-threatening. Their current conditions are not known.

The investigation remains open and officials are attempting to ascertain whether impairment contributed to the car accident along with speed. While the investigation continues, the victims are incurring expenses that could cause significant financial burdens on them now and in the future. Any information discovered could be used as evidence in personal injury claims filed by the injured passengers to prove negligence. If a Louisiana court finds that the evidence proves their injuries were caused by the driver’s negligence, an award of damages could be made.
