Louisiana construction site accidents can result from debris

A Louisiana woman has filed suit against a construction company after she sustained serious injuries to her knee. The suit includes several construction and building companies. Accidents like this one demonstrate how even debris left behind can cause serious construction site accidents.

The suit claims that the woman, who was working as a pile logger at a hospital job site, tripped on debris and sustained twisting injuries to her right knee. Her injuries reportedly were severe enough that she required arthroscopic knee surgery and eventually a total knee replacement. The companies listed as defendants allegedly did not provide a safe environment or safety procedures at the work site.

In addition, the companies purportedly did not provide proper entrances and exits at the job site and allowed debris to be left unattended. The injured woman is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, permanent disability and more. Current reports do not indicate what position the construction and building companies are taking in response to these claims.

Louisiana employers are required to follow safety precautions and guidelines in order to ensure that their workers do not fall victim to construction site accidents. When this does not happen, workers can become injured, which can lead to challenging days for all parties. Workers in Louisiana are protected by our state’s workers’ compensation laws, but the process of obtaining benefits can be complex and frustrating, especially while recovering from serious injuries. Thankfully, there are options available for workers to help them ensure that they are taking their claims in the most productive direction.
