Two recent interstate crashes resulted in the death of a driver and injured nine others. According to a news report, both crashes happened on a Wednesday morning in June.

The fatal accident occurred on Interstate 10, killing a 28-year-old Lake Charles man. According to a news report, the man was driving a Ford when he attempted to change lanes. Seemingly at the same time, a tractor-trailer switched lanes due to congestion. Authorities said the 28-year-old’s car became wedged under the trailer of the large truck, killing the driver of the Ford.

The driver of the 18-wheeler and his passenger were not injured. The driver was tested by police, and alcohol doesn’t seem to be a factor in the crash. As of the time of the news article, no citations were issued to the truck driver.

The second crash that morning happened on Interstate 210. According to authorities, the crash involved six vehicles that were in heavy congestion on the interstate highway. Five of the vehicles were stopped when a sixth vehicle crashed into the car in front of it, causing a chain reaction of car accidents. Of the six vehicles involved, three were tractor-trailers. According to a news report, nine people from the six-vehicle pileup were taken to area hospitals. Authorities say their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

As police work to determine exactly what happened in both crashes, the family of the deceased man, as well as the nine injured victims, may benefit from reviewing the final police reports when they are filed. The facts pertaining to the accidents may help them understand their rights in terms of seeking compensation for their injuries or loss of a loved one.
