I-220 in northern Louisiana temporarily closed after car accident

Emergency responders were recently called to a portion of Interstate 220 in northern Louisiana where a crash involving three vehicles occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. during the morning commute. That section of the roadway was closed while police investigated the car accident. Numerous motorists were delayed during the closure.

Pedestrian suffered catastrophic injuries when struck by car

At times, pedestrians are forced to put themselves in harm's way. Even if they are careful, the unpredictability of vehicles and their drivers on Louisiana roadways makes it difficult to avoid every hazard. Pedestrian vs. motor vehicle accidents often result in the victims suffering catastrophic injuries, particularly since they are virtually unprotected.

Teen suffers fatal injuries in car accident, other driver injured

It may mystify Louisiana residents that there can be such a large disparity between the injuries suffered by individuals involved in an accident. The same car accident that takes the life of one individual can also result in another person suffering moderate or serious -- but survivable -- injuries. If the impact is forceful enough, even being properly restrained will fail to save a life.

Husband's autopsy leads to medical malpractice claim from widow

On Nov. 28, 2011, a Louisiana woman's husband was involved in a motorcycle crash. Within hours of the accident, her husband died as a result of the injuries he suffered. On Dec. 31, 2014, the widow filed a medical malpractice claim based on the results of the autopsy done in the days after his death.

Did hospital negligence cause Louisiana woman's broken hip?

Families in Louisiana often entrust the care of their elderly family members who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's to nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities. Patients and their families expect a certain level of care, even when under the care of a facility on a temporary basis. When hospital negligence shatters those expectations, a medical malpractice claim may be an appropriate option.

Explosions on offshore oil platforms can injure or kill workers

Most Louisiana residents who work in the oil industry already know that even when an offshore oil platform is not producing oil, it can still be a dangerous place to work. Explosions do not only happen during production. Other activities on the platform can lead to an accident.

Louisiana State Police locate driver after recent car accident

One of the most important tasks of the Louisiana State Police at an accident scene is to determine precisely what happened. Sometimes, that task is easy. Other times, it requires more investigation. For instance, it can take valuable time and resources to locate a driver suspected to be responsible for a hit-and-run car accident.

Witness describes fatal car accident on I-10E in Louisiana

A woman occupying a vehicle that was following another vehicle occupied by family members witnessed a devastating crash on I-10E in Louisiana. As the two vehicles traveled east, another vehicle came up quickly and attempted to pass on the shoulder. The woman witnessed the car accident that resulted from that driver's apparent recklessness.

Details of car accident involving firefighter still sketchy

So far, not many details are available regarding a recent head-on collision. The car accident took place on Louisiana 25 at approximately 6:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered that one of the drivers was from their department.

Underage drinking and driving ends in a Louisiana car accident

Most everyone in Louisiana knows that driving after consuming alcohol raises the risk of getting involved in an accident. When the diminished capacity that accompanies intoxication is coupled with the inexperience of a young driver, the results could be catastrophic. A recent car accident may have been caused by drinking and driving by an underage driver.
