1 dead, 1 in critical condition after early morning car accident

Every day, Louisiana residents put their lives into the hands of someone else when they get into a car as a passenger. They rely on drivers to pay attention, follow the traffic laws and not get into a car accident. When that faith is misplaced, passengers run the risk of suffering severe or fatal injuries.

In the early morning hours of a recent Monday, three people entrusted their lives to a driver here in Louisiana. Sadly, the driver failed to get those passengers safely to their destination. Reports indicate that at approximately 2:24 a.m. on that day, the driver somehow lost control of the car occupied by the four individuals.

The car then careened off the road and slammed into a large tree. A 21-year-old man from Many lost his life in the crash. Another 21-year-old suffered severe injuries for which he was flown to a hospital in the area. That victim’s condition was last listed as critical. No information regarding any injuries suffered by the other two survivors was provided.

Other than the deceased occupant, none of the other occupants were identified, including the person in critical condition. Police also did not report who was driving at the time of the car accident. Whoever was driving could face civil actions from the surviving victims and/or the family of the deceased man. Successfully proving that negligence caused the serious and fatal injuries in this case could lead to an award of damages that could help with the financial losses often incurred in the aftermath of such tragedies.
