Car accidents can cause property damage along with physical injuries. A Louisiana man was involved in a car accident with a hit-and-run driver approximately one year ago. The incident caused property damage and a significant amount of injuries. The man recently filed a lawsuit with the Louisiana court system against his own insurance company claiming that it refused to cover damages associated with the accident.

Reportedly, the incident happened as the man was attempting to make a turn. While turning, his vehicle was hit from behind by another motorist who ultimately left the scene. The victim suffered physical injuries and unspecified damages to his vehicle. Even though the other driver is unknown, the man has coverage on his insurance policy that protects him from an encounter with an uninsured motorist. In spite of this, his insurance company is refusing to pay for the damages and any injuries he suffered in relation to the accident.

The man filed a lawsuit against American National Property and Casualty along with the unknown driver. In the lawsuit, the man claims that the unknown driver was negligent in a way that caused the accident. He further claims that the insurance company’s refusal to pay is a breach of contract. The accident allegedly caused the man to be physically disabled and he is seeking damages for pain and suffering and mental anguish.

Being involved in a car accident can cause a multitude of burdens Louisiana residents. In addition to suffering from physical pain and mental distress, victims may also suffer financially due to lost wages. Victims often times face out-of-pocket expenses for hospital stays and continuous care. These individuals may wish to pursue personal injury claims against another party whose negligence caused or contributed to the car accident. Compensation awarded from a successfully litigated lawsuit can be applied toward mounting medical bills and any rehabilitation costs that are being incurred as a result of the unfortunately incident.
