News anchor dead in Louisiana car accident involving drunk driver

An investigation is ongoing after a car accident claimed the life of a news anchor recently. Louisiana State Police are investigating to determine whether the anchor was killed before or after his overturned vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The car accident happened on Highway 93 in Lafayette Parish.

Police say the 48-year-old news anchor was traveling on Highway 93 when his Jeep ran off the road. It is believed that he over-compensated, causing the vehicle to roll over before landing in the northbound lanes. Another vehicle then struck the Jeep.

What is unclear is whether the news anchor's fatal injuries were the result of his initial crash or the subsequent collision with the second vehicle. The news anchor left behind a wife and two daughters. The driver of the second vehicle, a 52-year-old man, was arrested following the crash for being intoxicated. As the investigation continues, the deceased victim's family will likely strive to stay informed of any progress in the official inquiry.

Knowing how the news anchor died may bring the family some relief. In addition, the family may elect to determine what their options are under Louisiana personal injury laws. If the evidence suggests that the second collision in this fatal car accident is what caused the man's death, his family may press forward with a wrongful death lawsuit. If it is established that the second driver was negligent in a manner that caused or contributed to the death of the news anchor, our courts will entertain pleas for monetary damages proved to have been sustained as a result of the tragedy.
