One man -- known as a minister, a husband, a father and a grandfather -- suffers unimaginable anguish as he works to makes sense of how in the span of just a few seconds, his wife, his daughter, two grandchildren and a fellow church-goer were robbed form his life.

A head-on car accident has taken the lives of five people and critically injured two in Louisiana. The Louisiana car accident occurred last week as a group of people were returning home from church when a truck collided with the church-going group. The accident may have been the result of drunk driving on the part of the pickup truck driver, the police report.

The car accident happened at about 10 p.m. on LA 67 near LA 412 in the town of Slaughter. Investigators said that a Dodge pickup truck drove directly into the car carrying the group, resulting in the tragic head-on collision. The accident took the lives of a woman, her daughter, two grandchildren and another church member. Additionally, two other teenagers in the car were injured. The pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries.

The male pickup driver who reportedly caused the car accident was arrested. Louisiana State Police say that he may have been drunk at the time of the accident. The man was charged with five counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of first-degree vehicular negligence with injuries, a second DWI offense, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and driving left of center.

Firefighters and rescuers at the scene reported seeing one of the most horrific accidents they have encountered. Investigators are still reviewing the crash. Those injured and the families of those killed in the car accident will surely be interested in learning the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash as they understandably seek answers for such a senseless and seemingly incomprehensible end to such wonderful lives.
